Spiritual Life
The Spiritual Life Department exists to aid students in their formation as people. Our work is both practical and spiritual. We encourage students to enter into a relationship with God and to pursue His vision for their lives. We also train them in life skills necessary to be leaders in the emerging generation. It is our desire that each and every student reaches their God given potential.
Chapels
Students meet for chapel time once a week. Chapel time is an opportunity for students to hear about topics relevant to their lives. It's also a time for them to be encouraged in God's love and plan for them. We firmly believe that through the chapel time students learn more about God, themselves, and the world around them. Our hope is that each student is encouraged to live for a purpose greater than themselves.
SEW
SEW stands for Spiritual Emphasis Week. During this time classes are out of session for 3 days and focus is placed on the spiritual aspect of students' lives. SEW is all about relationships. Students building relationships with each other, with teaches, and with God. At GSIS our goal is to "educate the whole child"; SEW is a vital part of that process.
Retreats
Our annual retreats are some of the most anticipated events for our students! High School students are taken off campus for the weekend while Middle school students have their retreat on campus. This is an opportunity for teachers to connect with students on a deep level. The weekend retreat helps students gain perspective for their lives and time at GSIS.
Missions Work
GSIS takes pride in students who are willing to make a positive impact in the world with their lives. Our school offers overseas missions trips for High School students. This year our High School Missions work is focused in Thailand and Nepal with organizations that are both safe and trustworthy. Middle School will do in country missions work in local orphanages. These trips are designed to help encourage compassion and a desire to share God's love with the underprivileged.
