Middle School Principal's Welcome
Thank you for visiting the Middle School Division of Gyeonggi Suwon International School (GSIS). GSIS is an international school that aims to develop the 'whole person' - academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The middle school division is comprised of students in grades 6 through 8 who work with qualified and experienced teachers from around the world.
The GSIS Educational Philosophy states:
Because each student is recognized as a person made in the image of God, Christian education should foster self-respect and self-worth as well as respect and esteem for others. For this reason, the goal of Gyeonggi Suwon International School (GSIS) is to provide a quality educational environment in which each student's unique gifts of intellect, personality, stature, and spirit are given the best opportunity for development towards maturity. GSIS bases its philosophy on basic Christian beliefs.
In the middle school we understand that this is a very challenging time for our students, a time when they are struggling with identity and physiological changes that sometimes don't make sense. We feel that helping students to develop self-respect and value is integral to them being able to show respect and value to others. It is our desire to foster an atmosphere where all students are respected and valued, and where differences are celebrated, thus creating a strong platform to deliver a world class educational program.
We are a very young school, and our plans for the future are very ambitious. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and this spring we will undergo a full self-study to check our progress against our strategic plan, and to determine areas for future growth and improvement. At the same time we are busily preparing to become authorized to deliver the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in the near future. We are sending our faculty to many different countries for training and professional development, and using the knowledge and skills they bring back to develop and implement an academically rigorous world class education for our students. The entire GSIS community, from the Board of Trustees to the students, is committed to this ambitious goal.
Beyond our commitment to the intellectual development of our students, Gyeonggi Suwon International School is equally committed to bringing the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the truths of Scripture to bear on the formation of young minds seeking to know and understand their world. This is what makes Gyeonggi Suwon International School unique. We're preparing our students for future education and a successful life, but we're also educating them in a way of life.
We welcome you to come and visit us for a tour and/or just a short visit to say hello. Our doors are always open to you. Again, thank you for visiting our website; and if I may be of any assistance to you, please feel free to email me. Also visit my blog.
