Gyeonggi Suwon International School is currently a candidate school* and working towards authorization of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB-MYP). We seek to follow the IB-MYP curriculum in grades 6 to 10. The IB-MYP is an international education program that emphasizes the inter-relatedness of subjects and prepares students to become responsible participants in a changing world. The fundamental concepts of the program are holistic learning, intercultural awareness and communication.
The IB-MYP program emphasizes critical thinking and learning how to learn as opposed to simply learning facts. It is a student centered curriculum model in which the student is at the center of learning and teaching. Further, the IB-MYP program model focuses on 8 subject areas: 2 Languages, humanities, technology, mathematics, arts, sciences, and physical education.
GSIS aims to develop internationally minded students who, recognizing our common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. Students who are:
Inquirers / Knowledgeable / Thinkers / Communicators / Principled / Open-minded / Caring / Risk- takers / Balanced / Reflective
*Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as IB World Schools can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme. Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
